Approach

I use a people-centered approach to therapy which was developed by Carl Rogers. It involves working with the client on an equal basis, like a team, to resolve issues together, rather than the traditional doctor/patient model.

I believe in establishing mutually trusting and supportive relationships and research has shown that the relationship between client and therapist is as important as the type of counselling practiced.

I practice Cognitive Behavioral Therapy because it sets clear goals to change the way we think and feel to improve our mental wellness. I work with clients who suffer from addiction, often with underlying anxiety and depression issues, and clients who do not have an addiction but suffer from anxiety and depression, low self-esteem or have relationship issues.

I also work with couples, separately and together, to build successful, warm and loving relationships that fulfil each other’s needs.

I have a Bachelor’s degree in Education with Qualified Teacher Status and previously worked as a School Counselor. I also have a Master’s degree from the University of London and I have written a book on the use of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy in the treatment of alcohol addiction, called, “Holmes’s Complete Guide To Stop Drinking Alcohol; The Easy, Mindful and Pain-free Way” which is available online and from all good bookstores.

I charge £50/45 mins for a one-to-one Live online individual session, or what most of my clients choose is £400 for a block of 10 sessions. The initial meeting online by zoom or by phone is free to find out if we are a good match to work together and how I could help you. After that, it’s up to you whether you want to go ahead.

Bio

Mark started working as a Cognitive Behavioural Therapist in 2020, after working as a teacher in schools and school counsellor, for most of his career.

He overcame anxiety, alcohol addiction, and depression and wanted to use this experience to help others achieve life-changing results, too. He lives with his wife and two beautiful children having established a holistic practice during the 2020 pandemic. He’s already supported many clients to achieve life changing results.

Outside work he can be found strumming the guitar (very badly!) and enjoying family walks in the park.

Since the end of pandemic restrictions, Mark is enjoying travelling with his family and having fun again outside.
